Jessica Jones is a Netflix original series based on the Marvel comic book of the same name. The show was released in November 2015 and stars Krysten Ritter as Jessica, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker and David Tennant as Kilgrave.

The story takes place in New York City and focuses on both heroes (superheroes) like Jessica who has superpowers but are reluctant to use them for good, and villains such as Kilgrave with abilities that allow him to control people’s minds which he uses for his own nefarious purposes. When we first meet Jessica she is quite cynical about her powers saying “I just want it all to be over.” She also doesn’t trust anyone including those close to her until someone saves her life, and then she is forced to confront her past with Kilgrave.

This young woman has similar features to those who were responsible for giving birth to him: green eyes and dark hair.

“I’m sorry,” says the doctor as he hands back her baby boy without ceremony or warmth, “you can’t have this one.” She looks down on the small bundle in amazement; it’s not hers? It belongs to someone else…to whom? Who are you?”

As if sensing some kind of kinship between them, Kilgrave takes steps
