What would you do if your laptop’s battery died and there was no power outlet in sight? If you unplugged from the wall, then your computer might have a problem. In this article we will explore why does my fps drop when i unplug my laptop and how to fix it!

There are a few different ways to tell if your computer is low on power. One of the first signs that you’re running out of battery is an imminent drop in frame-rate (FPS). This means, when you unplugged from the wall and suddenly noticed it took longer for windows or menus to load than usual: congratulations! You found the problem.

How to fix it: if you are experiencing drops in FPS, then the first thing that you should do is plug your computer back into an outlet. This will help charge the battery and keep everything running smoothly! If that doesn’t work or there’s no power outlet nearby, head over to Settings -> System -> Battery and see if Power Saver Mode has been turned on–if so turn it off (and don’t forget to unplug when possible).

The first step is to plug it back in an outlet and let the battery charge so everything can load faster than usual–congratulations! If this doesn’t work or there’s no power outlet nearby, head over to Settings -> System -> Battery and see if Power Saver mode has been turned on–if so turn it off (and don’t forget to unplug when possible). Why does my FPS drop when I unplug my laptop?

If you’re like me, then your laptop is a necessary tool for both work and play. Whether I am writing reports or playing the newest Overwatch character to hit the PTR server, my trusty Dell Inspiron 7000 series has been with me every step of the way. But recently something happened that made my blood boil: when I unplugged from power while in-game, all hell broke lose onscreen as my framerate dropped dramatically. This doesn’t happen if I plug into power first – so what’s going on here?

Let’s take a look at why this happens (spoiler alert it isn’t good) and how we can fix it!

[…] The problem stems from your laptop’s internal power supply. When your machine is plugged into the wall, as it should be, there’s a constant flow of electricity to all parts – including the GPU. Your graphics card needs this juice in order to work at its full potential. But when you unplug and go on battery only mode, that steady stream of electrons gets disrupted by movement or other factors causing dips in performance

[…]So what can we do about it? There are many different tweaks and fixes for laptops with this issue but some include:

-Unchecking ‘Hybrid Graphics’ under Power Options (this allows more resources to be allocated)

-Adding an external hard drive so that programs will stay open even if you lose power
