Why did the Greeks believe that their gods had perfect human forms and qualities?

This is a question many scholars have been asking for centuries, but there are three main reasons. First of all, they wanted to show how powerful these gods were by making them look more like humans than animals or other creatures that could be found in nature. Secondly, they believed these god would be happier in an environment where they felt at home – which was on earth. Finally, as a result of being influenced by Plato’s idea of Forms – they used this theory to explain why these deities were not seen very often because their pure form existed only in heaven above the world we inhabit.
